Davidson's plum

Davidsonia pruriens · Fruit

Davidson's plum is the deep purple-black, intensely sour fruit of several Australian rainforest trees in the genus Davidsonia. Despite the name it is not a true plum: its blood-red, fibrous flesh is far too tart to eat raw and is prized instead for jams, sauces, wines and as a striking native bush-food ingredient.
