Naoussa is the flagship home of Xinomavro and the wine most often called the "Greek Barolo": a bone-dry, single-variety red from the south-eastern slopes of Mount Vermio in Macedonia that pairs a deceptively pale ruby colour with searing acidity and firm, gripping tannin. Rather than sweet fruit it leads with savoury sun-dried tomato, black olive, dried herbs and rose, and it ages for decades toward leather, tobacco and forest floor.
