Verdejo

Verdejo is the signature white grape of Spain's Rueda DO on the high plains of Castilla y Leon, where it makes crisp, aromatic dry whites of real character. The wine couples citrus, green apple and stone fruit with a herbal, fennel-and-bay lift and a distinctive, faintly bitter almond note on the finish. Built on medium-to-high acidity and grown at altitude under fierce sun and cold nights, it is fresh, textured and unmistakably Spanish. Long made in a heavy oxidative style, it was reinvented from the 1970s into the bright, modern white that has become Spain's leading domestic white wine.
