Rotaliano is the home ground of Teroldego: a small, flat, stony plain in Trentino where the Noce river spills into the Adige, ringed by mountains and planted almost entirely to one grape. The wine is startlingly dark — nearly opaque purple-ruby — but it is not a heavyweight. Brisk Alpine acidity, moderate rounded tannin and juicy blackberry, black cherry and plum over a peppery, herbal, savoury edge make it a table red, best drunk young and slightly cool.
