Dão Tinta Roriz

Dão Tinta Roriz is Tempranillo in its Portuguese guise, grown on the granite hills of the Dão in north-central Portugal. Here — under its local names Tinta Roriz and Aragonez — the grape trades the vanilla-rich opulence of oaked Rioja for a cooler, fresher, more mineral style, contributing firm structure and tannin to fragrant, elegant reds of red-berry fruit, dried herbs and a pine-scented, granitic lift.
