Margaret River Sémillon is the fresher, more citrus- and grass-driven face of the grape, grown on ancient gravelly loam in a mild maritime climate between the Indian and Southern Oceans in the far south-west of Western Australia. It is the structural backbone of the region's signature white — the Bordeaux-inspired Sémillon–Sauvignon Blanc blend, or "SSB" — and, bottled on its own, a dry, medium-bodied wine of lemon, herbs and green apple with a firm, saline line, a world away from the waxy, honeyed heft of warmer-climate Sémillon.
