Pessac-Léognan is the serious, age-worthy face of Sauvignon Blanc: a barrel-fermented dry white from the gravel soils of the northern Graves, just south of the city of Bordeaux, almost always blended with Sémillon. Where cool Loire and New-World Sauvignon Blanc trade on zesty, unoaked freshness, this is a fuller, oak-framed white of grapefruit and boxwood rounded by waxy Sémillon weight, toasted oak and a lanolin richness that rewards years in the cellar.
