Chianti Rufina

Chianti Rufina is the smallest, coolest and highest of Chianti's named sub-zones: a hilly enclave in the Sieve valley east of Florence that gives an unusually elegant, taut and long-lived Sangiovese. Where warmer Chianti runs to ripe cherry and flesh, Rufina trades weight for finesse — tart red cherry, orange peel and dried herbs carried by piercing, mouth-watering acidity and fine, savoury tannin.
