Yarra Valley (Australian Pinot Noir)

Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is Australia's benchmark cool-climate expression of the grape: a pale, perfumed, savoury red from the hills northeast of Melbourne, where a cold maritime-influenced climate and old grey loams and volcanic red soils yield wines of red-cherry fragrance, spicy whole-bunch stemminess and fine, silky tannin. It trades the plush ripeness of warm-region Pinot for freshness, aromatic lift and a distinctly Burgundian sense of restraint.
