Salice Salentino is the appellation that made Negroamaro famous: a small zone on the flat limestone plain of the Salento peninsula, between the Adriatic and the Ionian, where the grape gives a dark, warm, savoury red with ripe black cherry and plum, dried Mediterranean herb, tobacco and a faintly roasted, bitter-almond finish. The name of the grape reads as "black bitter", and the wine delivers both.
