Gattinara

Gattinara is the flagship red of Alto Piemonte, the alpine foothills of northern Piedmont: a DOCG wine built on Nebbiolo — known here as Spanna — grown on iron-rich, acidic volcanic soils on the left bank of the Sesia river. More perfumed, mineral and finely tannic than the Langhe's Barolo, it marries rose and red cherry to a distinctive ferrous, savoury edge and bright, high acidity.
