Muscat du Cap Corse

Muscat du Cap Corse is Corsica's fortified sweet Muscat — a vin doux naturel made from Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains grown on the wind-swept, sun-baked slopes of the Cap Corse peninsula and the island's coastal fringe. Like all vins doux naturels its fermentation is halted by adding neutral grape spirit, locking in the grape's own unfermented sugar and its vivid, grapey perfume; the result is a luminous pale-gold wine of about 15 percent alcohol that smells of muscat grapes, orange blossom, apricot and honey, but carries a distinctly Mediterranean, saline freshness from its schist soils and sea-breeze climate.
