Rosso Conero

Rosso Conero is the firmer, more mineral face of Montepulciano: a Marche red grown on the limestone slopes of Monte Conero, the wooded promontory that rises straight from the Adriatic just south of Ancona. Where Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is soft and easy, the coastal chalk and sea-cooled climate here give a more structured, savoury wine of ripe black cherry and plum over a herbal, mineral edge and firmer tannin.
