Ribeira Sacra Mencía

Ribeira Sacra Mencía is the cool, high-toned Atlantic face of the grape: a fragrant, medium-light red grown on Galicia's near-vertical river-canyon terraces, where a damp, Atlantic-influenced climate and slate soils give a wine of crunchy red cherry and raspberry, violet florals, a green-herbal lift and a cool, wet-stone minerality. Fresher, higher in acidity and more perfumed than the deeper, more structured Mencía of neighbouring Bierzo, it is a wine built on drinkability, brightness and stony tension rather than weight.
