Wachau

Gruner Veltliner is Austria's flagship white grape, and in the terraced Wachau on the Danube it makes a dry, zesty, food-loving wine of green apple, lemon and lime, a savoury lentil-and-celery bite and a famous twist of white pepper. It is one of the very few wines that flatters asparagus and green vegetables, foods that defeat most others.
