McLaren Vale Grenache is the grape reborn as a fine wine: a warm, maritime South Australian red built from gnarled old bush vines, many of them a century old, that turns heat-loving Garnacha into something perfumed and silky. In its modern guise it trades jammy weight for vivid raspberry and red plum, orange peel and warm spice over a bright, medium-bodied, gently savoury frame — a style often likened to a warm-country Pinot Noir.
