Terra Alta (Garnacha Blanca)

Terra Alta is the world capital of Grenache Blanc — here called Garnacha Blanca — a remote, high inland corner of southern Catalonia that grows a large share of the planet's plantings on old, low-yielding vines. Its wines are the grape at its most complete: full-bodied, textured Mediterranean whites of ripe orchard fruit, fennel and toasted almond over a stony, saline, sun-baked core.
