Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is the rare, powerful white of the Southern Rhône, and Grenache Blanc is the grape that gives it its flesh: a full-bodied, low-acid, sun-ripened wine of ripe pear, quince and white peach lifted by fennel and white flowers, with a broad, oily texture and a warm, faintly resinous, honeyed finish. Grown on the appellation's baking galet-strewn terraces, it is one of the Rhône's most opulent and long-lived whites.
