Sannio is the inland heartland of Falanghina — the whole province of Benevento, an hour east of Naples, where the grape is grown on limestone and calcareous clay hills rather than on the volcanic coast. Falanghina del Sannio is dry, unoaked and high in acid, with lemon and grapefruit, green apple and white peach over white flowers, and a dry bitter-almond twist on the finish that is the region's signature.
