Montlouis-sur-Loire
Montlouis-sur-Loire is Vouvray's sandier left-bank neighbour: a crisp, energetic Loire Chenin Blanc made in every style from bone-dry to sparkling, but leaning fresher and quicker to open than its famous cousin. Grown on light sand and flint over tuffeau limestone just south of the Loire near Tours, it smells of green apple, pear and honeyed white flowers over a bright, chalky, mineral acidity.
