Chassagne-Montrachet is the broad, nutty white of the Côte de Beaune: a barrel-fermented Chardonnay from the southern end of the Côte d'Or that shares the Montrachet hill with Puligny but tastes distinctly its own — hazelnut and toasted almond over ripe citrus and orchard fruit, with a stony, flinty edge and a firmer, earthier frame than its famous neighbour.
