Maipo Valley Carménère is the ripe, structured Andean face of Chile's flagship red: a warm-climate, sun-drenched Carménère grown at the foot of the Andes just south of Santiago, on stony alluvial soils that give it more grip, spice and dark-fruit density than the plusher versions of Colchagua. It trades a little of the grape's leafy green edge for full ripeness — blackberry, plum and black pepper over cedary oak — while keeping the signature savoury, green-peppercorn lift.
