Maule Valley Carignan is Chile's old-vine revival in a glass: a dark, high-acid, savoury red pressed from gnarled, dry-farmed bush vines planted in the 1940s and '50s around Cauquenes. Where much New-World red is soft and fruity, this is taut and structured — brambly red and black fruit framed by firm tannin, dried herbs, black pepper and an earthy, rustic grip.
