Corbières is the rugged, sun-baked face of Carignan: a dark, full-bodied Languedoc red from the windswept hills between Carcassonne and Narbonne, built on old bush vines rooted in schist, limestone and sandstone. Often made by carbonic maceration to lift its brambly fruit and tame its firm tannin, it smells of dark wild berry, garrigue scrub, liquorice and black pepper — a rustic, savoury wine bred for hearty Mediterranean food.
