Bolgheri (Super Tuscan Cabernet)

Bolgheri is the sun-warmed Mediterranean face of Cabernet Sauvignon: the coastal Tuscan appellation that launched the "Super Tuscan" movement, where Cabernet — usually blended in the Bordeaux mould with Merlot and Cabernet Franc — ripens fully by the sea into a plush, deeply coloured red of ripe black fruit, sweet spice and a warm, herbal-scrub savouriness over polished, velvety tannin.
