Saumur-Champigny
Saumur-Champigny is the most charming, gluggable face of Loire Cabernet Franc: a fresh, supple, juicy red from the Anjou-Saumur end of the valley, grown on the soft chalky tuffeau limestone of the Saumurois. It trades the firmer structure of some inland Cabernet Franc for bright red-cherry and raspberry fruit, a violet lift and gentle, chalky tannin — a savoury, thirst-quenching wine that is famously delicious served lightly chilled.
