Yellow watermelon is the bright golden-fleshed form of Citrullus lanatus — outwardly the same green striped melon, but cut open to reveal canary-to-amber flesh instead of red. It carries little or none of the lycopene that reddens ordinary watermelon, and growers and eaters often find it a shade sweeter and more honeyed, with a clean tropical edge that sets it apart from its crimson siblings.
These cues are Watermelon's, and hold across its varieties; where this one differs, its own page says so.
