Turmeric tea, often sold as "golden tea" or in its milk-based form as golden milk, is a caffeine-free herbal infusion made by steeping or simmering fresh or dried turmeric in hot water, giving a vivid orange-gold cup that smells warm, earthy and faintly peppery and drinks mild, savoury-bitter and gently astringent. It is not a true tea — it holds no Camellia sinensis leaf and no caffeine — but a rhizome infusion of the same golden spice that colours curry, drunk across South Asia as a home remedy and now a fixture of the global wellness shelf. Brightened with lemon, sweetened with honey, sharpened with a twist of black pepper, or simmered with milk and spices as the creamy golden milk (haldi doodh), it ranges from a thin, austere everyday cup to a rich, comforting bedtime drink.
