Black Krim is a Russian and Ukrainian heirloom beefsteak from the Crimean peninsula, a medium-to-large slicing tomato that ripens to a dusky brick-red and maroon-brown shading to dark, almost olive green-brown shoulders. Its dense, deep-coloured flesh is famous for a rich, smoky, faintly salty and intensely savoury flavour that made it one of the first dark heirlooms to win over chefs and gardeners in the heirloom revival.
