Three Dots and a Dash
Three Dots and a Dash is a complex tropical tiki cocktail built on aged rum, citrus, honey and falernum — a lush, layered rum drink shaken with crushed ice and served in a tall tiki or Collins glass. Its garnish, three maraschino cherries and a chunk of pineapple on a pick, deliberately spells the Morse code for the letter V — the World War II Victory signal — from which the drink takes its name.

Golden and frothy over crushed ice, Three Dots and a Dash smells of ripe tropical fruit and molasses-rich aged rum, cut with the grassy funk of rhum agricole and a burst of fresh lime and orange. Underneath runs the warm spice of falernum — clove, ginger, almond and lime zest — and the floral weight of honey, all lifted by a dash of aromatic Angostura. On the palate it is rich, layered and deceptively smooth: sweet honey and dried fruit are balanced by tart citrus and a lingering spiced-rum warmth at around 20 percent alcohol in the glass, so it drinks far more easily than its strength suggests.
