Strega is a bright saffron-yellow Italian herbal liqueur from Benevento in Campania, made since 1860 to a secret recipe of around seventy botanicals that famously include saffron — which gives its distinctive yellow colour — and mint, producing a sweet, complex, minty-anise flavour whose name means "witch" in Italian.

Bright saffron-yellow and intensely sweet, Strega leads with a cool, penetrating mint and anise aroma layered over a tangle of herbs and spices — saffron lending a faint savoury warmth beneath — that reads almost like a sweetened herbal amaro. The palate is syrupy and honeyed, thick with sugar, before a warm alcoholic lift at around forty percent ABV carries a long, faintly bitter, minty-anise and herbal finish. Complex and slightly medicinal in the best sense, it lingers with liquorice, fennel and a resinous herbal aftertaste.
