The spot prawn (Pandalus platyceros) is the largest of the cold-water "pink shrimp" of the North Pacific — a deep-dwelling, reddish-orange shrimp marked with white spots on the tail and prized for sweet, delicate, almost lobster-like flesh. Despite the name "prawn," it is biologically a shrimp, and it is among the most sought-after shellfish of the Pacific coast, especially in British Columbia and Alaska.
