Sea lettuce

Ulva lactuca · Vegetable

Sea lettuce is an edible green seaweed of the genus Ulva — most often the type species Ulva lactuca — that grows as paper-thin, translucent bright-green sheets clinging to rocks and shells in the intertidal zone. Mild, faintly briny and tender, it is eaten fresh in salads, dropped into soups and broths, and dried as a flaky garnish.
