Saccharin

Sugar substitute

Saccharin is the oldest artificial sweetener, a white crystalline powder roughly 300–400 times sweeter than table sugar. Discovered in 1879 and best known today under the brand Sweet'N Low, it adds intense sweetness with essentially no calories and has anchored diet soft drinks, tabletop packets and sugar-free foods for well over a century.
