The giant puffball (Calvatia gigantea) is a large, ball-shaped fungus whose smooth white fruiting body can swell to the size of a soccer ball or larger. While young and pure white throughout, its firm, marshmallow-textured flesh is prized in the kitchen — most famously sliced thick and fried like a steak or cutlet.
