The Indian blood peach is a dramatic heirloom clingstone — its dusky, maroon-flushed skin cut open to reveal deep blood-red flesh streaked and stained crimson all the way to the stone. A very late-ripening, old-fashioned peach with a wine-dark, intensely aromatic flavour, it is grown more for preserves, pickles and its striking colour than for the modern fresh market.
