Liqueur
Parfait Amour
Parfait Amour ("perfect love") is a vivid violet-purple French liqueur, intensely sweet and heavily perfumed with rose and violet over vanilla and a curl of orange — a fragrant, faintly soapy curiosity that dates to the eighteenth century and survives today mostly as a colouring-and-scent accent in vintage cocktails.

Intensely sweet and syrupy, Parfait Amour leads with a heady perfume of candied violet and rose — the note that colours it amethyst — layered over vanilla and a bright curl of sweet orange, with almond and gentle spice in some bottlings. The mouthfeel is viscous, rounded and very low in acid, the alcohol mild for a liqueur at around a quarter to a third ABV, and the aftertaste lingers long and floral, like rosewater and crystallised violets, with a faintly soapy, cosmetic edge that some find pretty and others cloying.
