Nocello is a sweet, deep-brown Italian liqueur from Modena that marries green walnuts with hazelnuts — a lighter, mellower, nuttier cousin of the darker, more bitter nocino, bottled at a gentle strength of around twenty-four percent alcohol by volume.

Sweet and mellow, Nocello leads with a warm toasted-nut aroma — walnut and hazelnut together, closer to praline than to a bitter green-walnut nocino — layered over vanilla, caramel, light coffee and a faint whisper of baking spice and cocoa. The texture is viscous and rounded, the alcohol soft and gentle for a liqueur at around a quarter ABV, and the finish lingers sweet and nutty with only the barest tannic edge from the walnut, far softer than the darker, more bitter nocino it descends from.
