White nance is a small, round tropical fruit borne by Byrsonima crassifolia, a savanna tree of the Malpighiaceae family that ranges from Mexico through Central America into tropical South America. It is the pale, cream-to-ivory-skinned form of nance, soft and oily-fleshed with a sweet, cheesy, slightly fermented aroma that polarises tasters as strongly as durian.
