Mirabelle is a clear, unaged fruit brandy distilled from ripe mirabelle plums, the small golden-yellow plums of Lorraine in north-east France; a delicate, dry eau-de-vie of about 40 to 45 percent alcohol, it captures the honeyed, floral scent of the fresh fruit in a colourless spirit, and its Lorraine origin is legally protected across the European Union.
