Limonana is a frozen, slushy mint lemonade, a signature summer drink of the Levant made by blending fresh lemon juice, sugar, water and a generous handful of fresh mint with ice until it turns to a pale-green, semi-frozen slush. Popular in Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt, it is sharper, colder and far mintier than plain lemonade, and its name is a portmanteau of the Arabic and Hebrew words for lemon and mint. It is drunk ice-cold through a straw, a mouth-numbing antidote to Mediterranean heat.
