Keemun (Qimen hongcha) is a refined black tea from Qimen County in southern Anhui, China, prized for a distinctive fragrance the trade calls the "Keemun aroma" — a winey, orchid-and-rose sweetness layered over notes of cocoa, dried fruit and pine. Lighter-bodied and more perfumed than most Chinese black teas, it brews to a bright red-amber liquor and is the classic backbone of English Breakfast blends.
