Navy Strength gin is a London-dry-style gin bottled at a fiery 57 percent alcohol by volume — 114 proof — the traditional strength linked to the gin issued to the Royal Navy, at which spilt spirit was said to still let gunpowder ignite. Colourless and bone-dry like any gin, it is far hotter and more concentrated, leading with an intense blast of resinous juniper and bright citrus that is built to punch through tonic, citrus and the other ingredients of a stiff punch rather than to be sipped neat.
