Genmaicha (玄米茶, "brown-rice tea") is a Japanese green tea blended with roasted, sometimes popped, brown rice. The rice lends a warm, nutty, popcorn-like aroma and a toasty sweetness that softens the grassy, vegetal bite of the green leaf, giving a mellow, comforting, low-astringency cup the colour of pale straw.
