Fuchsia is a genus of shrubs (Fuchsia spp., chiefly the hardy Fuchsia magellanica) grown worldwide for its pendulous, two-toned "ballerina" flowers in vivid pink, red and purple. Both the showy flowers and the dark, plum-purple berries that follow are edible: the blooms are sweetish and lightly acidic as a garnish, while the ripe berries are juicy, tangy and grape-like, used fresh, in jams and in syrups.
