Frangelico

Frangelico is an Italian hazelnut liqueur from the Piedmont region of north-west Italy, bottled at around 20% ABV. It is a sweet, golden-brown cordial built around toasted hazelnuts and rounded out with cocoa, vanilla and other flavourings, and is instantly recognised by its bottle moulded in the shape of a robed friar, complete with a knotted-cord belt around the waist.

Intensely sweet and syrupy, Frangelico leads with a pronounced toasted-hazelnut and praline aroma over cocoa, vanilla and burnt-sugar caramel, finishing warm and nutty. The texture is viscous and rounded, the alcohol gentle for a liqueur at around 20% ABV, and the aftertaste lingers sweet, roasted and faintly chocolatey.
