The Panaché — better known in English as the tiger or striped fig — is a small novelty fig instantly recognised by its green skin boldly streaked with yellow longitudinal stripes, like a tiny watermelon. Cut it open and the show continues: the flesh is a vivid strawberry-red to raspberry, exceptionally sweet with a bright berry-citrus tang that sets it apart from the honeyed brown table figs.
