Black Mission fig
Ficus carica 'Mission' · Fruit
Top 10 pairings
The Black Mission is California's classic dark fig — a small-to-medium teardrop with deep purple-black, almost violet skin that splits to a strawberry-pink to amber, seed-flecked interior. It is among the sweetest of the common dark table figs, intensely jammy and honeyed with a clear berry note, and it is equally prized fresh and dried, where it shrivels to a dark, chewy, super-sweet morsel.
