The Sukkari is the Saudi connoisseur's date — a soft, plump, golden-to-amber fruit whose very name comes from the Arabic sukkar, "sugar." Grown above all in the Al-Qassim region of central Saudi Arabia, it is famed for an intense, almost confectionery sweetness carried in a soft, melting, faintly crystalline flesh that many describe as creamy or fudge-like. Prized as a premium gift date and a fixture of Saudi hospitality, it is eaten both crisp and pale at the early stage and soft, honeyed and amber once fully ripe.
These cues are Date's, and hold across its varieties; where this one differs, its own page says so.
