The English cucumber (Cucumis sativus), also called the hothouse, telegraph, burpless or seedless cucumber, is a long, slender, thin-skinned cultivar group grown almost entirely under glass. Stretching 30–40 cm with smooth, ridge-free, deep-green skin and a near-seedless core, it is milder, sweeter and far less bitter than a field-grown slicer — sold individually shrink-wrapped in plastic because its delicate, unwaxed skin would otherwise dry out within days.
These cues are Cucumber's, and hold across its varieties; where this one differs, its own page says so.
